Summary

SamCart needed a faster way to connect with warm leads during an email promotion, but their existing SMS tools fell short, with low delivery rates and weak click-through rates. The Challenge

SamCart needed a way to reach every possible lead during a planned promotion. Email alone was not enough, and they wanted multiple touches to stay in front of people at the right moments. Their team tested different SMS tools, starting with ManyChat, but saw a 13% failure rate and a 1.6% click-through rate.

The next HubSpot plugin performed better on delivery, but still produced click-through rates in the low single digits. “For 8,000 text messages sent to people’s phones, we lost 13% right off the top,” explained Scott Moran, SamCart Co-Founder.

The results were not strong enough to support the promotion, especially with a large group of leads who had shown interest before but never taken action. They needed an SMS tool that could reach this audience quickly, reliably, and without losing valuable traffic.

Leading up to the promotion, they created anticipation and used Salesmsg for one message on the day the promotion opened and another on the day it closed. “We touched people through various channels where all the messages were converging on one offer that was closing at midnight,” he added. “Later, we realized that was a big reason our conversion rates were so high and why the promotion was such a success.”

Results & Impact

SamCart saw immediate engagement once they added SMS texting to their promotion. After testing other tools that produced high failure rates and low click-throughs, they used Salesmsg to send a text message to 44,000 numbers and saw about 3,000 clicks with a 6.8% click-through rate. These were “warmish” leads who subscribed a long time ago but had never taken action, so re-engaging them with SMS was powerful.

Scott explained that these were people who watched a webinar or went through the sales process before, but never signed up for a trial. “To have those people engage so strongly with text messaging was nice to see,” he said. Reaching them at the right moment helped move them past the final objections that often block a sale.

“Looking back, we realized that two simple text messages helped us generate an extra $20,000 in sales revenue,” says Scott Moran, “because we were selling yearly packages, which are really valuable to our business.”
